It is that time of the month, err, nay, year ! Really bad joke ! Anywho, gifts eh ? I think I am good at giving gifts but honestly sometimes I wing it. But, almost always, if it’s someone who is into beauty, or someone who is closer to my age, I generally pick up a makeup gift that I feel would be their style. And I more often than not stick to lip products since we experiment most with our lip color. Let’s take a look at my recent lipstick favorites that I feel would be the perfect Christmas gift for women in your friends or family.
This has been the year of liquid lipstick, and I have tried a few of the newer luxury liquid lipstick line. My top two picks among those I have tried would be the Armani Lip Magnets and the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme.
The Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme retail for 28$, and this price point is the most affordable line among the luxury tier of liquid lipsticks. These are some of the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I have worn. They do not seem to completely dry down, though they do look quite matte. But what wowed me was how long they lasted through drinks and food, even after my breakfast and lunch, these look almost undisturbed. And they fade very evenly through the day.
The only critique of this line would that the shade range is very limiting. I would love to see them expand to more shades, and also add some metallics into the line.
The Armani Lip Magnets retail for 38$ and are quite at the high end of the luxury brigade. They are in the comparable price range as Chanel, Dior and Cle de Peau. But I much prefer the Lip Magnets to the other brands liquid lipsticks.
The Armani Lip Magnets are some the very best liquid lipsticks, period. They feel very gel like, light weight on the lips. They glide on smoothly, and full pigment from the lighter shades to the dark ones. They also have quite a few colors to choose from, from nudes to peaches to corals, red and dark berry and brown shades. These take anywhere from a minute to 5 minutes to dry down. But they will completely dry down to a matte looking lip, there is very very minimal transfer after dry down, intact the lighter shades don’t have any transfer on me while the darker shades transfer just a teeny tiny bit.
Why I absolutely adore them is they look like a plush velvet matte, that doesn’t suck my lips dry, yet it stays on so very long. I have had this through a complete day, all three meals and then some, really late nights too. But they still stay pretty much intact through the day with a little fading on the inside of the lips. But they don’t look dry, or flaky or come off in chunks. They also feel like you have nothing on, very very comfortable.
Swatches of the shades I picked up, in order 400 (Four Hundred For All), 402 (Fil Rouge), 503 (Glow), 505 (Second Skin), 506 (Fusion). While these look too similar on my arm swatches, they definitely are different on the lips. More truer to how they look in their lipstick tube.
I think these would make fantastic presents for that beauty lover and liquid lipstick fiend in your life. Or are you getting one for yourself ?
