There is a new lipstick sheriff in town by the name Pat McGrath Labs Matte Trance Lipstick and your mouth better watch out ! Lol ! But really, I was entranced and enamored when Pat announced these beauties. I caved and got them, and if you, like me were curious how these are, then keep on reading lovelies !
Though very curious like every beauty addict was, when Pat launched her own line, it hasn’t been till this release that I actually bit the bullet and bought from the line. Hi, my name is Swathi and I am a lipstick addict ! I seriously do have a thing for matte lipsticks and was sucked in by how pretty these look. I mean look at them !
The Pat McGrath Labs Matte Trance lipstick retail for a hefty 38$ a piece and contain 0.14 oz/4 g, they are also limited edition. They come, as you can see, in a glossy and gorgeous black packaging with these beautiful gold lips at the clasp which just make these lipsticks stand out and just make a statement. Another very cool feature is that Pat designed these in such a way that when you twist the gold part of the bullet, the lipstick rises up straight which I know sounds confusing but when you see it, you will marvel at it. Atleast I did for a good 10 seconds.
From the Sephora website:
What it is:
A richly pigmented lipstick that adorns lips in a lightweight veil of opaque color for a modern, matte finish.
What it does:
MatteTrance™ is a richly pigmented lipstick with a sensually creamy, powerful pigment that evokes screen siren glamour with every application. Each shade is presented like a jewel in a black-lacquered couture case fashioned with a sensually surrealist golden lip that’s destined to be a cult-status collectable.
Get entrancing color that satisfies with supreme hydration and opulent matte opacity. Flaunt this richly pigmented formulation, cloaking lips in a lightweight veil of rich color. It’s infused with optical diffusers that blur the appearance of imperfections, combined with a blend of polymers to provide flexibility and adherence. An advanced formulation of spherical particles ensure a creamy soft texture for the smoothest film of color. Each shade is enmeshed in a powder film combined with saturated pigment for lightweight opaque coverage. This lipstick lays down a high impact with a strong finish.

I love LOVE how pigmented these are. One swipe full coverage, absolutely no tugging whatsoever. The lipstick bullet itself looks like a mousse ? Very spongy and soft ! It is weird but wow ! I love how smoothly these go on. They stay on forever and stain as well. Especially the red ! I tried to remove the swatches from my hand and these left a slight stain behind.
Now, onto the only thing I am unsure about, since these bullets are so soft, it seems like these may break easily. Omi is already loose in its case and I don’t like that a luxury product as this has quality issues at the price point. That said, everything else about these lipsticks is luxe, they also stay on pretty long, the nudes kind of set on my lips after an hour at which point they feel like liquid lipsticks. The red is a bit more creamy. All of them very stunning still.
These are all currently available at Sephora, though most of them are out of stock, save for the vampy shades, which from the reviews I have seen are as good as the rest. Pat also is releasing her permanent line with newer shades of lipsticks, I am keeping my eye on them. Did you try these ? What do you think ?
