Wow, I can’t believe that we are in June already. Like where is this year flying ? It’s going by SO fast ! Don’t tell me I am the only one feeling that. Anywho. Monthly favorites is a different kind of blog post for me, but I just wanted to do it for May !
I have been trying to post atleast once a week and managed to do so until the first week of May. And while there’s been nothing that happened that was too drastic, there have been somethings that have occurred which have made me a just retreat into a shell. because of which I haven’t been posting on here or on Instagram.
Lets talk first about all the lovely beauty bits that I have been obsessing over this past month:
- I am having a major bronzer/highlighter moment and I can’t get enough of them. My top pick would be the By Terry Sun Designer palettes, as they contain a mix of bronzy shades, and highlighters along with blushes. This is truly a multitasker, I know that price is hefty, but the texture of this is unlike any I have seen so far, they just glide over my skin and blur my skin. This was also the palette I took along for my trip last month. I do have a review along with swatches here.
- The other face palette that I have also been loving for days when I really don’t want to bother too much with makeup, is the Becca x Chrissy Teigen palette. I reviewed this one as well with swatches, here. This is a stunning palette for summer, and it can go from the “just woke up like this” look to “club fun” pretty fast ! And unlike what I have been seeing on YouTube that this is very close to the Jaclyn Hill palette, on me these palettes look very different. This is a huge thumbs up from me !
- A new addition to my collection is the highly raved about Natasha Denona Sunset Palette (limited edition), this has been very elusive and is currently sold out everywhere. But I really hope they make this permanent as it the most gorgeous orange based palette I have ever used. Let me know if you want a full review with swatches, but if you are a fan of this color palette, I highlight suggest you snag this if you can find it.
- Other bits I have been into are the same ones, the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush in Brilliant Nude (gorgeous for the summer) and the Marc Beauty Dew Drops, best liquid highlighter I have EVER used ! As for lipstick, there hasn’t been one that I have been constantly reaching for, but I definitely am enjoying a more cream/glossy lip look these days.
As I previously stated, this past month has been little tough. Earlier this year, while talking and commenting on various bloggers posts on Twitter, I came across this tweet asking if anyone is interested in a Bloglovin’ love thread. What it basically means is that you have this group of bloggers who would show love (hearts) on Bloglovin’. And I wanted to be a part of this, and so requested to join.
I was added, and we had a few conversations and I truly felt like this small group were really nice. I was also part of the same group on Instagram for Instagram love as well. And we all know how bad the Instagram algorithm has gotten, and how many people are resorting to unethical means like buying followers. Which I would never do. But a picture I posted on Instagram, for whatever reason, received a hug amount of loves, and this whole group just ousted me and left some hurtful comments on that post.
This has essentially just made me so angry that people could just assume things, and not even check with you. What a truly sad world we live in, when friends turn to strangers. Long story short, I haven’t felt much motivated since then to do anything, and it’s like people undermine my love and passion for beauty, and my integrity along with it. I can’t believe how seemingly nice people would just leave a bunch of rude comments and then block you. Sorry for the absence and rant over !
Another really exciting change is my blog makeover ! I have been wanting to change the look up since forever. I regretted my decision to buy my previous blog theme (Olsen theme from CSS Igniter), about 5 minutes after I paced the order. It was super expensive with not too much of customizations. And I realized I could’ve gotten a Pipdig theme for the same cost, but I was unwilling to splurge again. Until now. With all that happened I was just wanting a change up, and wow ! Am I glad I switched ! I am loving the new layout and there are SO many options I can tweak. What do you think ?
Lets move on to the most exciting news that I have, a Fathers Day giveaway. At the time of writing this, it is actually my Dads birthday, and I miss him loads. Staying so far away, it’s truly difficult and I miss my family quite a lot. And my dad has always been my rock, I miss the late night coffee conversations and early morning wandering around my city, with him. In my culture, we have this kinda cute sentiment where most people I know in my life, gift their parents something with their first job, first salary. When you become an adult. And so, when I started working, I wondered for a really long time what should I gift him. It’s always hard choosing gifts for men, as they don’t have all the exciting options that women have. So I finally went with a fountain pen. Which he still has to date.
But if I had to do it now, I would go with a wood watch. The first brand that I saw have some gorgeous wooden time pieces were Jord, I believe it was in a major YouTube-r video a couple of years ago. I fell in love ever since. So this is a pinch me moment because now, I am partnering with Jord Watches, to give away 1 e-gift card worth 100$ and as a bonus, everyone who enters receives a 25$ e-gift card as well.
