JEFFREE STAR VELOUR LIPS

JEFFREE STAR VELOUR LIPS

I wanted to have this post up at my daily time, but I couldn’t. That’s what happens when you don’t think ahead and schedule posts. Especially, when you know friends are going to come over, there will be some wild times ( as wild late 20s can be, you know, drinking wine and shouting over each other in your living room, trying to drown each others voices), and that you will eventually spend the whole day just cooking, talking, eating, yelling, watching music videos and gushing over the models, dancing, drinking more wine and basically staying up till 4 AM.

Yup. SO, moving on. The reason I’m still typing this, when I’m a little hungover, is that I wore a Jeffree Star liquid lipstick yesterday through all that, had one of those rare nights I  slept with my makeup on (oops!) and while I’m sitting here typing this up, that lipstick is still going strong.

I purchased Gemini (had to have it, my kinda color combined with the hubs sun sign, YES ! GIMME !) and Redrum (only red liquid lipstick I have, about time to go bold). And I chose Gemini for a casual day. And I’m beyond impressed. It has been about close to 24 hours now *cringe* but the lipstick is still hanging around, as casual as my day has been. It’s faded only on the inner area of my lips but it didn’t crumble, it faded evenly, and I have a stain. LOVE !

These retail for 18$ and are currently available at Beautylish, Morphe Brushes and Jeffree Star website, for those of you lovelies in the UK, the line is available at Cocktail Cosmetics. They have a TON of shades to choose from, some very interesting and fun. These are cruelty free and a few shades smell like root beer. I noticed that these dry darker than what they look like in the tubes, and Jeffree suggests to always shake the tube for about 5-10 seconds before application. Looking at Instagram, I also see that a lot of MUAs use them on the eyes, so these maybe eye safe as well.

So, I pulled up my nudes (my liquid lipstick nudes, get your mind out of the gutter!) and checked if I had any dupes for Gemini. This shade is very pretty warm nude, the unique things about this shade is, it isn’t too peach or red or brown or mauve. It seems to have a perfect balance of all these and looks just beautiful on. Though, I do have shades in similar color family, I couldn’t find a spot on dupe for this. But, I would say if Nyx Lingire lipstick in Exotic was mixed with a bit of Lolita 1 and 2, you could get close to Gemini. Gemini is currently sold out, but a restock is on the cards this week.

I also tried on Redrum the day I received the package, and it’s a stunning red, with slight blue tones. I don’t have any red liquid lipsticks for comparison, unfortunately, but if you’re in the market for a red, this would be a good place to look. You can find Redrum here on Beautylish.

Bottom line: I love these ! They go on opaque in one swipe, they have a thin liquidy consistency. They are very comfortable on the lips, my lips don’t feel parched at all. They last really really long, and still make my lips look really good. These, along with Jouer Lip Cremes, are the absolute best liquid lipsticks I’ve tried so far.

I’ve seen on Instagram, that he is releasing new shades in less than two weeks, a few metallics included and I’m quite chuffed. I’ve loved the sneak peeks of the shade Rose Matter, and can’t wait to get it. I’m now gonna go to cleanse my face !

Redrum is one of my favorite reds and I love Masochist! On my list is Androgony which seems to be everyone’s favorite. Stunning images and great review. I might have slept in my makeup a couple of times too!

I am still kinda scared to leave the house with a red lip though ! I loved Androgyny as well, but it seemed pretty dupeable within what I had, Gemini though ❤️ ! Thank you Dom ! ?❤️ Xx

You should include swatches instead of just pictures of the liquid lipsticks. It would be really helpful.
