There are few beauty brands which do chic and glam so effortlessly, and in my humble opinion, Hourglass is one such beautiful brand. I have a very small curated collection, but they are ALL my favorites.

Hourglass was founded by Carisa Janes, and in her own words on why she named her brand Hourglass, “I didn’t want to name it after myself. I wanted something that was feminine, and strong, and timeless, and it just kind of stuck.”. Her style is impeccable and I love that she thinks about an everyday woman and her needs, read more about her and Hourglass in her interview with Refinery29 here.

For me, as with most others, the packaging and aesthetics is something that interests me in the brand. And Hourglass does not disappoint. Their products are luxe, sleek, yet functional. Glamorous to whip out in public. I carry my Ambient Powder Compact with me, because I need a mirror on the go, and taking this out in public always looks stylish.

Packaging aside, the products themselves are nothing short of magic bottled, an added bonus is that the brand is cruelty free. As I said, I have a small curated collection. And I love everything I have, so, in no particular order:

1. Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palettes : These palettes are a thing of beauty, so striking and stunning. I have this in Obscura, which is earth tones. And it is gorgeous. I know these received not-so-favorable reviews, when they released. But, I’ve found there is a learning curve to most products, and this palette comprises of shadows which are quite powdery but very, very soft. So, I apply the matte shades with a MAC 217 kind of brush, but the shimmer shades, I pick up lightly with my fingers and tap onto my eyelids. Blend and you will have the most gorgeous shimmery, eye-catching eyes, ever !

2. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders : I actually had both the original Ambient Powder in Luminous Light and the Ambient Strobe Powder in Euphoric. But, sadly, Euphoric completely broke into tiny pieces when I put it in my handbag. I have not yet gotten around to buying it again, but it is stunning. I have included a picture of it from when I bought it. Now, the Luminous Light, however, if you read my blog (or follow me on Instagram), you know my obsession with this powder. It is a magical skin blur, there is nothing more to say. I have raved enough about this and I won’t say more, save, GET IT !

3. Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipsticks: I am a matte lipstick girl, but my most favorite cream textured lipsticks are made by Hourglass. I know, I know, everyone loves their Opaque Rouges or the Nude Stylo pencils. But, me ? I love their original lipstick line. These are SO hydrating, and so beautiful. And their color selection is stunning. I have Embrace(Bronzed, Plum Burgundy) and Vintage(Deep Rose). Surprisingly, both of these colors aren’t available on Sephora, but they are available on Hourglass website. If there was one lipstick I will finish, it’s Vintage. I just put it away whenever I use it more than 5 times in a row, because I have too many lipsticks to put on. I use Embrace as a lipstick topper, and it is b-e-a-utiful ! So beautiful !

So, any other products I need to try ? What do you love from Hourglass ? XO
