A few years back, if you’d told me I’d be obsessed with a dewy glowy look and have a gazillion products for the same, I’d have laughed. I was all about a matte look, and never really wanted anything shimmery on my face. Fast forward today, and here we are. I cannot get enough of the glow ! So today, I’m sharing my top glowy products – primers, blushes, highlighters. The whole shebang !
PRIMERS: I have had these for a while, and it’s only recently that I’ve incorporated these into my daily routine. Now, technically, only one of these is a primer. And the other four are liquid highlighters. Honestly, I don’t see much of a difference in how they perform on me.
Let’s start with my absolute favorites the Rouge Bunny Rouge Seas of Illumination. I love Sea of Tranquility, a pinky white highlighter with multi color reflects, which I’ve just finished completely. This gives an ethereal, beautiful look to my skin. The Sea of Showers, a bronzy gold, is perfect for summer, as it’s a more golden highlight. These are hands down my favorite highlighters to use mixed in with my moisturizer. They’re not as shimmery as the Becca ones, which can sometimes look like it’s sitting on top of your skin. I use the Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector (it looks so grubby, I know!), when I want a more obvious glow on my face. This one can emphasize pores a bit, and is quite shimmery. I mean, Edward Cullen in sunlight, kinda shimmery.
The Laura Mercier Radiance Bronze primer is a bronzy shimmery liquid, it’s pretty good. But, I reach for this only when I can’t find the Rouge Bunny Rouge or Becca ones. Lastly, my current everyday favorite. The Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Illuminator. This one gives a dewy, lit from within look, but with no obvious shimmer particles. Perfect for everyday !
BRONZERS & BLUSHES: I have recently started really lusting after an extremely glowy bronzy skin, and I recently purchased the To0 Faced Snow Bunny Luminous Bronzer. I’ve raved about this.No shimmer, just a glowy sheen.Perfection in a pan ! The Colourpop Cheek Highlighter in Butterfly Beach is similar, but shimmery. If used along the edges of your face sparingly, it provides a beautiful bronze sheen.
I am honestly not a blush person. On me, they can look muddy real quick. But, these blushes have some fine shimmer in them, making them a little glowy, and I’m digging that, as you know ! An oldie but a goodie is Mac Sunbasque. This is the perfect summer blush. A corally shade with shimmer, it’s truly gorgeous. I also recently picked up the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani blush palette. This is quite convenient for mixing and matching highlighters and glowy blushers, love ! Nars Goulue was a VIB Rouge perk, in the pan it looks raspberry, but there’s some fine micro shimmer running through it. It is beautiful on, with a light hand. A more obvious glow is the Becca Rose Gold, which is technically a highlighter, but shows up bronzy rose on the skin, very glowy ! Lastly, we have the H&M Velvet Cream blusher in Sunny Peach, this looks quite similar to Tom Ford Pink Sand, it can be sheered out for a subtle pink glow or built up to a beautiful pink flush, quite glowy and gorgeous.
HIGHLIGHTERS: Can you tell I have some serious glow addiction ? *snorts, whole page is about that*. I love that with highlighters you can fake perfect and healthy skin. And there’s a highlighter for every occasion. If you’re looking for a beaming from space kind of glow, the Anastasia Beverly Hills So Hollywood, TheBalm Mary Loumanizer, Becca Champagne Pop and Urban Decay Sin all fit the bill perfectly. These are all intense on the skin, no fooling around. Anastasia Beverly Hills So Hollywood and Becca Champagne Pop are more gold/peach toned, while TheBalm Mary Loumanizer and Urban Decay Sin are champagne-y on the skin, very gorgeous though ! HUGE LOVE !
If you prefer something a little less space alien, but still want a glow, Becca Moonstone, Girlactik Face Glow in Natural, Nars Jubilation Blush Duo, Sleek Solstice palette, Colourpop Lunch Money might be more up your alley. These give you a gorgeous, gorgeous sheen on top of you skin.
If you want something really subtle, just want to seem like you have nourished, healthy skin that glows, I like cream highlighters for this purpose. Edward Bess Sunlight, Cover FX Bubbly, Jouer Tiare, Nudestix Angel and Clinique Lid Smoothie Cashew Later (how cute is that name though !), these are all cream based products, that melt into you skin, giving a lit from within look. Sometimes, I layer these underneath a powder highlighter to give some extra oomph.
Lastly, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. I have Luminous Light, and I would freak out if I can’t find this. I use this as an all over face powder, and it truly, blurs my skin, making my skin look like it has a smoothing filter on it. I would repurchase this again and again !
