FIRST IMPRESSIONS AND OLD FAVORITES

These days I have so many variations on my peachy pink obsession, that it has become my go to look for the past couple of weeks. It just seems very easy, yet can be worn for glamorous nights out on town. I have way too many products in this color scheme, and I’ve picked the ones I am wearing today for this easy weekend look.

Base Products: I don’t experiment very much with my base products but I do have some new additions. I bought the Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation (64$), this week. Now, this I believe is a matte foundation, and I have combination/dry skin. But I also know that I don’t have much luck with foundations geared toward oily skin types. And my all time favorite foundation is the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint, which is also a matte foundation. Therefore, I waned to try this one out.

I only tried it on a few times this week, and I have to say that I am a fan of the texture. It can be built up to full coverage and it can also be sheered out, by mixing in some highlighter drops (I love mixing the Cover FX Custom Highlighting Drops in Moonlight), and it goes on effortlessly. It does not emphasize my dry skin or texture, and looks flawless the whole day. I picked up the shade 6 which is described as a match for people with “medium skin with warm undertone” and while this suits me, it is not as yellow based as my NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tints are. This is more neutral/olive based. And it does suit me, but if you lean more yellow then I would check the shade range in person.

The other new product I am testing out is the NARS Soft Matte Concealer (30$). Now, again I know this is not typically geared towards me. But, I am one of those few people who didn’t like the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. The Radiant Creamy wasn’t a total fail, but it wasn’t my ride or die or even something I liked day to say. But the new Soft Matte, I can see myself wearing everyday, whether full face of makeup or low makeup days. It is SO lightweight and so easy to blend in. I wear shade Macadamia. Love this !

Cheeks: I have been trying to use products that I have not touched for sometime, and I also wanted something to add more dewiness to my skin. My go to product for days when I don’t want a metallic highlighter but a soft glow to my cheeks, I use the By Terry Cellularose Blush In Ice Dream (66$). This is a peachy and glowy blush in the pot, which translates to instantly perked up face and cheeks. This is for those days when you just need an instant pick me up, and want to banish the dull skin !

For blush my eyes just gravitated toward the Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love (26$). This is a cult favorite product from Too Faced and for good reason. It is a very natural yet beautiful plum pink, that suits almost every complexion. It just gives soft, subtle glowy cheeks. To add bit of warmth to my face I used the Guerlain Terra India Bronzer, which has some subtle glow to it.  This was unfortunately limited edition, but is available here on Escentual. This smells divine and it just adds a soft wash of warmth to my face, much needed to transition into spring. And my highlighter of choice was the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone (38$). This is more subtle than most Becca highlighters, but this gives such a subtle, healthy glow to my skin. One that I really need now, since I am recuperating from a bad bout of cold, fever and sore throat ! Moonstone just lifts up my face and makes me look more awake.

Essentially, the cheek products are all about making me look less sick and more youthful and smart. I just wrote smart and I am going to stick to that !

Eyes and Lips: My eyeshadow and lip color are some of my all time favorites for a match peachy pink look. I have raved about both of them and they do deserve all the praise. The Le Metier dé Beaute eyeshadow in Day Eternal (75$) (review and swatches here) and Mac Cosmetics Shadescent collection lipstick in the cult Velvet Teddy (17$).

The eyeshadow palette is marvelous, it has the right mix of shimmer and matte shades and it can be worn for day time glam or night time sultry. It is amazing. And the lipstick is already a cult favorite of many beauty lovers.

What are you gravitating towards this weekend, any spring transition makeup favorites ?

Your cheek picks all look so pretty and smart! 🙂 The By Terry has me intrigued for sure, and maybe the Power Fabric is really worth a try if it’s okay on your dry spots? Velvet Teddy is one of my favorite lip colors and I’m always eyeing that LMDB palette when you show it.

Thank you Jenn ! 🙂 You should try the By Terry blush/highlighter if you get a chance Jenn, I think you will like it. Also, try the LMdB Palette too, you can always return it if you don’t like it ? I think ? The Power Fabric foundation is really good considering it lasts a long time, can’t wait to see how well it does in summer ! Xx

Now I can sleep at night knowing I’m not the only one unimpressed by Nars’ radiant creamy concealer! And like you, I’m actually really liking the new soft matte concealer by Nars as well.

What beautiful products! And it is so useful that you linked them all. I am recovering from sickness myself so a few of those seem like they’d be useful!
