I am an eyeshadow junkie, there I said it. I wear some form of eyeshadow everyday, I just cannot have bare eyelids. On the rare occasion I step out with bare eyelids, I atleast will have eyeliner on, and it would only be for my best mates, I ain’t sacrificing my makeup ritual for anyone else !
I have wanted to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows for the longest time now, especially after I plunged into the single eyeshadows world with Makeup Geek. Everyone raves about these Anastasia shadows and I really wanted to see what the hype was about. Anastasia Beverly Hills is also cruelty free, which is a plus.
These retail for 12$ each, any finish, it’s the same price. You can find these at Sephora, Ulta and Macy’s. They come in various finishes, titanium (super sparkly), satin, ultra matte, duo-chrome etc. They’re currently on bundle prices on all the websites, where if you buy four eyeshadows, it costs 40$ and you get an empty palette to put them in. I really liked the palette that came with my shadows, it’s pretty sturdy and functional, though there is no mirror, you can see the colors the quad is housing.
The colors I chose are Metal (titanium silver gold), Pink Champagne (titanium pinky beige shimmer), Henna (titanium coppery brown) and China Rose (duo-chrome rosy peach metallic). I chose all shimmer or sparkle eyeshadows, are your surprised ?
The eyeshadows are super pretty. These are PIGMENTED ! I just love how with one swipe you have full color pigment, and they’re not powdery, they are very smooth and buttery. I love all the shades, and they’re so gorgeous in the sun. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen the sun here in more than a week now, so the swatches are taken outdoors, but under cloudy skies. I will try and update this post with swatches in the sun when we get some sunshine.
Now, after all the raves I’ve heard I really wanted to see if these stay on my eyelids without creasing or disappearing. My eyelids have become oily and eat up eyeshadows these days. There are very few brands where the eyeshadows stay put on my eyelids without a primer. But, without a primer, if I wear the Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadows, they disappear in a couple of hours. And I wanted to see if these do the same or they last longer.
I have had very weird results with these now. When I wore Henna, it disappeared in about 5 hours, which was longer than the Makeup Geek shadows, but still disappeared half way through my day. But, when I wore Pink Champagne and China Rose (which when swatched looks blah, but really is a beautiful duo chrome on the eyes), they stayed on put through out the day, with no fading or creasing at all. And I tried these more than a couple of times. I haven’t put Metal through the grind for a whole day, but during the time I wore it, it looked well, with minimal fading.
So bottom line: I’m pretty impressed with these. And I ADORE these colors. I plan on picking up more colors in the near future.
Have you tried any eyeshadows from this line ? Did you like them ? Any favorites ?
